Singapore Girl Goes Global With McDonald's New Packaging

Singapore, April , 2007
Today marks the Singapore launch of McDonald’s new packaging featuring 24 “stars" selected from its first-ever online consumer Global Casting Call. The global roll-out began in the US and Canada in March, and now the new packaging (cups and bags) with Singapore’s very own “Star", Felicia Yee, is available here!

Felicia will join the ranks of famous faces who have been featured on McDonald’s packaging, including Olympic athletes, tennis superstars Venus Williams and Serena Williams, basketball sensation Yao Ming and pop group Destiny’s Child. She was selected as one of 24 from 13,000 entries submitted by consumers in more than 100 countries, and the only one from South Asia (the other two Asians are from China and South Korea).

“I was thrilled when friends who visited McDonald’s in Hong Kong and the US told me they saw my photo on a McDonald’s cup. It’s an incredible feeling to walk into a McDonald’s restaurant and see myself on the cups and bags – I really feel like a star! McDonald’s has provided me with a life-changing experience by allowing me to share my passion with the world, to meet incredible people from around the globe and to be featured on their packaging. It’s a great honour to be part of their first-ever Global Casting call and I’m definitely lovin’ it!" Felicia said.

Ms Shirley Foenander, Vice-President of Marketing and Communications, McDonald’s Singapore, said: “With McDonald’s first-ever online Global Casting Call, we’re bringing the energy and spirit of ‘i’m lovin’ it’ to life, by connecting with consumers and giving them an avenue to express themselves about the things they love. We’re excited that Felicia, our Singapore girl, is going global, and has the chance to share her passion with the 50 million people that McDonald’s serves around the world every day. "

In August 2006, Felicia joined the 23 other selected “stars" from Asia, Australia, Europe, Latin America and North America for an all-expense-paid trip for each of them and a guest to London, England. The “stars" and their guests enjoyed tours of the city (including Windsor Castle and Tower of London), croquet party, tickets to the smash hit musical “Mama Mia!" with a cast meet and greet, celebration parties, and photo session with renowned lifestyle photographer Nick Clements, who has worked with world famous celebrities and fashion magazines. Clements captured Felicia expressing her delight at witnessing snow for the first time.
